How to enhance young people’s transition to the labour market?
An online youth conference on European policies & national action
15th of March 2022, 2-4 PM
The European Year of Youth 2022 offers young people the opportunity to be in the centre of the political agenda and to steer it in their direction. Due to the Covid19 pandemic, young people have been particularly affected by unemployment, precarious work and poor access to social protection. To address multiple forms of social or economic exclusion and mental health threats, various EU initiatives have been put in place, aiming above all at young people´s access to decent work.
Following the successful youth event on ‘EU Bridge to Jobs – Preventing a Lost Generation’ in July 2020, CESI Youth, the European Youth Forum and StartNet are again joining forces to take stock of the situation and to discuss avenues for improvements.
How does young people’s labour market integration look like two years into the pandemic? What are the strengths and weaknesses of European initiatives, such as the reinforced EU Youth Guarantee, ALMA, the quality frameworks on internships and apprenticeships? How can we strengthen European youth policies and their effective implementation across all EU Member States?
We will discuss these and other questions with the Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights Nicolas Schmit, as well as with representatives from the French EU Presidency, the European Parliament, researchers, practitioners, and, most importantly, young people themselves.
We, CESI Youth (the youth organisation of the European Confederation of Independent Trade Unions)), the European Youth Forum and StartNet (the network for young people’s transition from school to work)), kindly invite you to participate in this online conference on March 15th 2022 at 2PM. Your contribution would be extremely valuable to the discussion and impact of the event.
The EU Commissioner for Jobs and Social Security, Nicolas Schmit, will deliver the keynote speech of the event.
