How to ensure an inclusive and fair sustainable future for the EU
Dear members, partners and friends,
We herewith invite you to our CESI@home on Wednesday 12th of May 2021, 9.30 – 11 AM on the following subject:
‘The European Green Deal:
How to ensure an inclusive and fair sustainable future for the EU?’
In December 2019, the European Commission presented a proposal for the ‘Green deal’, a political commitment towards a sustainable Europe by 2050.
The initiatives under the Green Deal include a 2050 climate-neutrality objective, a European Climate Pact to engage citizens and all parts of society in climate action, a 2030 Climate Target Plan to further reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030, and a new EU Strategy on Climate Adaptation to make Europe a climate-resilient society by 2050.
As this ‘Green Deal’ needs full support of all national and EU level actors, the aim of this CESI@home event is to grasp the potential impacts of these far-reaching ambitions (clean technologies, circular economy, decarbonized energy-intensive industries, and transition aids) on workers and EU citizens at large.
How can we make sure that these green (and digital) transitions can be tailored in a socially fair way? What do trade unions and the public sector need to prepare for? What are best practices which show the relevance of trade union policies and actions in implementing green targets?
‘The following speakers shall introduce into the debate:
- Klaus Heeger, CESI Secretary-General
- Antoine Colombani, member of the Cabinet of Executive Vice President Frans Timmermans, European Commission
- NN, Member of the European Parliament
- Sara Rinaudo, CONFSAL, Youth Board Member & Chair of the CESI Working Group on the Future of Work
