Andrea Despot is a political scientist and an expert on Eastern Europe. She acquired her expertise at Harvard University and Munich and Berlin Universities. At the European Academy Berlin, she is responsible for devising, planning and implementing seminars and conferences relating to European policy and is in charge of international research projects and educational projects. Her specialist areas lie in the fields of EU external relations, transatlantic relations and the process of transformation and ‘Europeanisation’ of Eastern and South-eastern Europe. Dr. Despot was a visiting lecturer at the University of Helsinki, Finland; since the Summer semester of 2009, she has been assistant lecturer at the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies at the Free University of Berlin, where she teaches external and security policy as well as International Contemporary History.
