Although educated as socio-economic historian, Aaldert Mellema has spent the largest part of his working life in the health care sector. After a career in the hospital sector Mr. Mellema became international secretary for the Netherlands Union of Nurses and a member of the board of EFN.
Currently he is the negotiating representative for CNV Publieke Zaak in the healthcare sector. In the international field his main areas of interest are workers (cross border) mobility and sustainable employability. “I think it is vital that next to good working conditions people find meaning and purpose in their work. It is a challenge and a pleasure for us, the unions, to support them in this field”, says Aaldert Mellema.
